Greetings!
Today is day 10!!! You are hitting the home stretch in your 11 day game. We here at Source Inc. are putting it on big for the last two days. You have 89,000 dollars to spend today! So, enjoy yourselves BIG TIME!
Thank you for joining in on the special challenge yesterday! I suggest part two of that today.
Today, you are challenged to think about ways that abundance has come to you in a non-monetary way as part of the "gift culture". Have you ever received a gift or something that had significance for you that came as a delightful surprise? Examples might be: tickets to an event that you enjoyed, delicious food, a dinner out, or maybe something a little more rare to receive as a gift or giveaway, like a car, a boat, a house....you get the idea.
Have a delightful day!

Hi all, you know I spend my money yesterday on a beautiful garage guest house and today I plan to pay down my mortgage. That might sound boring but it is so EXCITING!!!
Now for the money that falls from the sky challenge I have many experiences that actually happened that remind me that this can happen anytime. Some of them are little things and some big but they all add up and I am grateful for each one!
*When I signed up for massage school, I had the money to enroll but I did not have the money that would be due half way through the course but I leaped in anyway and trusted. Something that was a first for me at the time. A little before the money was due I received a check for $1500 from my Grandpa, almost exactly the amount I needed. The thing is, he had no idea I needed it and he had NEVER sent me a check before or after!
*I used to pay by check at Publix when I went grocery shopping and about 3 times each year the checks were never cashed. This added up to almost $500. a year from Publix. I wonder what happened to those checks but for me it was a gift. Thanks Publix!
* On two occasions, as I was barely waking in the early morning I audibly heard stock ticker symbols and proceeded to look at their charts. The first time it was Tollgrade Communications and I bought about 100-150 share. It went up $10 a share within the week and I sold it for that profit. The next time it was Logitech, which gapped up overnight 2 days later a whopping $24 a share. I sold that and made a quick $2400!!! Not bad and totally divine intervention.
I have many more examples and quite a few to mention tomorrow when I share gifts that I have received.
I wish you all a wonderful day full of unexpected delights!
Sue
Today we are digging out of the snow so maybe a snow blower? Actually, today I prepaid a week vacation for me and Stacy at Seaside, FL, one of our favorite places. I also bought Stacy a new Ford Escape hybrid. I bought myself a new Yamaha baby grand piano to go into the addition on our house. Since I was having a hard time spending the money I decided to share the wealth and buy 10 new houses for deserving families in Haiti through the charity Food for the Poor. For only $3200 you can buy someone a new home and give them a new lease on life. The balance I decided to put toward my mortgage so I can be that much closer to one of my life goals - being totally debt free.
ReplyDeleteFor extra credit I can think of several examples of generosity that have unexpectedly come my way. Back in the early 90s Stacy and I lived in Houston and she had an uncle living in Dallas. Once he took us to a Dallas Cowboys game, a big treat for me being a Cowboys fan. Another time he took us to the Cotton Bowl to see our alma mater FSU play Texas A&M. Also when we lived in Houston my parents lived there and they took us out to many fine meals.
Today I put all of my $89,000 towards the mortgage. Whew, that feels good!
ReplyDeleteI never look at what anyone else has posted until I have completed and posted my own spending. I am a little bit, but not too much, surprised to see I often bought what Sue has bought. Pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteGigs with the bands have been few the past several months. In some ways that is OK since they do bite into my time for doing other things, but I sometimes miss playing live music. Plus I like the "extra" money. Today I received phone calls for eight gigs!
ReplyDeleteToday I am paying off the home equity line, paying off my son's 529 plan, and then we are booking a month long trip to either New Zealand or South America - heck, maybe both!
ReplyDeleteAs for the little amazing money things, I am feeling a bit puzzled because since I started the game I have had to take a 15% pay cut AND been told my job will not be back for next school year. I am, however, holding onto the belief that it means something REALLY AMAZING is heading my way, and will be here soon.
Weird, I thought I posted yesterday and said I was giving Dade 50k to buy a car, or two if he likes, for us. The only stipulation is that one has to have excellent fuel mileage, so he can either get one amazing car with great fuel mileage, or one everyday car with great fuel mileage and whatever other car he wants. And for the rest, I am going to give to Katie to use for her art business.
